The people behind Von Gahlen | Frank Doornbos
“By carefully analyzing customer needs and translating them into technical solutions, that’s where you truly add value.”
Since May 1st, 2025, Frank Doornbos has been part of the Von Gahlen team. In his role as Area Sales Manager, he serves as the bridge between customer requirements and technical solutions, working closely with teams such as Sales Engineering and Inside Sales. Recently, he attended his first international trade show in Barcelona, where he spoke with customers in nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy, time to get to know Frank better.
From engineering to customer dialogue
With a background in mechanical engineering and experience in sensor technology, Frank speaks both the language of engineers and that of customers. “Especially when it comes to customized solutions, that’s a major advantage. In customer conversations, I can quickly grasp technical challenges and translate them into practical and achievable solutions. That technical foundation also helps me to have productive discussions with our engineers. It creates trust and better alignment within the team.”
Collaboration is the key to success
In his first months, the open and collegial collaboration within Von Gahlen immediately stood out. “Sales, Engineering, and Inside Sales complement each other perfectly. Inside sales, for instance, plays a crucial role in preparing quotations and safeguarding internal processes. This allows me to focus on customer relationships and consultancy fully. At the same time, I see opportunities to professionalize our collaboration, working more efficiently and strengthening the quality we deliver to our customers.”
Understanding what customers need
In conversations with customers, Frank notices that reliability, safety, and future-proofing are key priorities. “Customers operate in a highly regulated environment. They’re looking for partners who not only deliver products but also understand the entire process from initial contact to installation and service. That’s exactly where Von Gahlen makes a difference.”Frank translates that customer focus into transparent communication. “From the start, I discuss all expectations, possibilities, and also limitations. That way, you prevent surprises and build trust. Von Gahlen is known for its realistic approach, and I see it as my task to make that tangible in every customer interaction.”
EANM in Barcelona
In early October 2025, Von Gahlen participated in the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). This European scientific society brings together professionals working in nuclear medicine. Each year, physicians, researchers, and companies gather to present the latest developments and clinical applications. As a leading manufacturer of innovative shielding solutions for nuclear medicine, Von Gahlen has been a regular participant for many years. “At the EANM, we present our latest innovations to the market, maintain relationships with existing clients, and connect with potential new ones. Our participation underlines our commitment to innovation and safety within the sector.”
Guiding visitors through hot cells
During the exhibition, Frank had the opportunity to demonstrate Von Gahlen’s technology in action. “I guided visitors through our fully integrated hot cells and showed how our solutions operate in practice. For example, the Dispensing Hot Cell, Shielded Glove Box, and Preparation Box, each equipped with integrated functions such as hydrogen peroxide decontamination, glove leak testing, and a visual inspection system.”
Many visitors asked how they could make their work processes safer and more efficient, for instance, how to prevent contamination or how systems can be integrated into existing production lines.
International ambitions
Frank looks forward to contributing to Von Gahlen’s continued international growth. “My focus is on maintaining long-term customer relationships and exploring new market opportunities, for example, in niche markets or regions where Von Gahlen is still relatively unknown. Optimizing our distribution channels also plays an important role. And of course, the international nature of our customer base requires sensitivity to cultural differences and a tailored approach to communication.” With this mindset, Von Gahlen continues to build on a strong international foundation, always in close partnership with our customers.
